ABOUT KATIE SCARLETT
While growing up, I was surrounded by artists, but struggled to find a medium that truly spoke to me. Though I loved photography, I always felt that it was missing a tactile and structural element that I was craving. It wasn't until my adult life that I discovered (and fell in love with) the art of millinery.
I am constantly inspired by the unlimited possibilities of imagination, and like to challenge myself to push the boundaries of "what is possible" when it comes to making headpieces. I love creating all styles of millinery, for all sorts of purposes, and truly enjoy working with my client to make their piece perfect.

LONDON HAT WEEK 2020
"TO THE FUTURE AND BACK"
The year 2020 has always seemed fictional when it was mentioned and now that we are close to this imaginary time, we would like to invite hat lovers to time travel to the future and back with creative hat designs. We are introducing a dual “future” and “retro” themed London Hat Week exhibition this year. You will be able to see hats created for both themes.
MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL MILLINERY COMPETITION
"SOMETHING FROM NOTHING"
Australia’s most renowned millinery competition is back for the fourth year. This time, the competition organizers want you to make Something from Nothing. Or almost nothing. They want milliners to design a hat or headpiece from something delightful using materials you might discard or ignore or even re-loved and use scraps to create something stylish. Its all about wanting to thrill and amaze the judges.

PALMA HAT WEEK
"50 SHADES OF WHITE"
Our world is shaken by a virus and turned upside down. After the lock down, we all have to start over - We therefore chose white.
“The white dove of peace and freedom, white for innocence, tenderness and simplicity. But this colour also addresses modernity and contemporary design, because it represents a new beginning and our ability to start from scratch on a blank slate. White light contains all colours, so we see the full presence of light in white. You can rarely find real white tones in nature. ” (Quote pantone color world 2015)
This years motto of our international hat exhibition for Palma Hat Week 2020, is dedicated to this colour which also has a very special place here in Mallorca.
White in all its shades is a dominant colour, be it in architecture, in art, in design and also in fashion. White is elegant, timeless, it is mediterranean and it forms a wide variety of colours in its interplay with light and shadow.
In addition to cream, ivory, beige, coconut, floral white, mother-of-pearl, alabaster, chiffon, salt, eggshell, cotton, fog-white, polar, there are as many as 50 to 80 different shades of white.
